Hi Lily, my mum is my biggest inspiration! She suffers from an autoimmune disease called rheumatoid arthritis meaning her immune system attacks the cells in her joints by mistake which makes them very swollen and painful. I was inspired to do research in this area to undertand more about these types of diseases and possible ways to make people better. I hope that one day my work could eventually help towards the development of new and more effective treatments for people with autoimmune diseases. It is very rewarding to do a job where your work could eventually help to improve other people’s lives. 🙂

I have been inspired by a lot people! Mainly my family, especially my Nan because she has always worked hard and achieved things even at a time when it was harder to. Also my Mum because she is so lovely to everyone and helps anyone she can. Outside of my family, I found Jane Goodall quite inspiring – she has spent most of her life studying chimpanzees and changed a lot of people’s views on them. She also did it at a time when not a lot of women were working in science or were listened to.

My biggest inspiration is my mum. She’s really hard-working, supportive and just the loveliest person. I wouldn’t be where I am now without her help!
