Hi Harry! Thanks for the great question. I love science because its all about discovery! I love to discover things that nobody else in the world knows yet! It is very creative to brainstorm new ideas and experiments to test my ideas. It is also really rewarding when my ideas about something turn out to be true. I also love how every day is different which keeps things interesting! Last but not least, I love the fact that my work could potentially contribute towards the development of future treatments which could help people suffering from immune system diseases.

Hi Harry, thanks for your question. For me, it’s about the practical application and using the skills and knowledge to help people. Our laboratories and scientists use techniques everyday (as well as developing new ones) to help patients.

Science is just a giant puzzle! And I love puzzles!

I like science because you always get to ask questions – you see something you don’t understand, you ask a few questions and suddenly you are on the path to figuring out the answer. In particular I enjoy seeing a practical outcome from the work I do – being able to help people and make the world a slightly better place is particularly enjoyable.

Hi Harry. I think for me science gives me a different way to see the world. For example, when I look at different sediments or geological formations, I can imagine the different environments that they formed in, so for example you might be standing on some rocks in the middle of the country side and realise that they once would have formed on the sea floor! Once you know the science behind something, you begin to see it differently.

I like science because it helps us to understand how real world things are made and work! I really enjoy getting to do practical work, alongside ‘desk work’ (writing up experiments, reports, admin work etc) and everyday is interesting!

Hey! Great Q – I love science because the things i am studying are completely unknown, and if i can find some answers then i can push science forward. Its a small change in the world but a positive one!
